Today after 66 years of the year 1945, when Japan’s lively cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki were devastated by atom bombs during WW II - again Japan is facing similar kind of situation, and time it is in the form of a natural calamity. An earthquake of 9 Richter scale and the city of Fukushima is completely devastated. Buildings collapsed roads ravaged, properties destroyed, people killed and millions made homeless. That was the beginning of calamity, and there followed tsunami of unprecedented scale where sea waves again ravaged the quack hit cities, airports were turned into puddles, cities into lakes, houses, cars, vehicles, even huge ships floated like toys in the raging sea. Bridges tumbled, trains swiped away, everything in the city were swiped away by the strong current back into the sea like garbage.

The third woe was waiting to begin and that was in the form of fire. Due to earth quack fire broke in the refinery in the city of Fukushima, and quickly spread to the neighbors, burning houses, cars, buildings all, factories looked like a vast forest in fire. The burning city looked like a huge fire ball in the night. Imagine the state of people living in that city. What fear, what trauma, what agony and pain!!!!

The fourth and the biggest woe were ticking slowly but steadily. On 12^th March early morning the shocked country was woken up with the worst news of a blast in the nuclear plant. By the earthquake and tsunami the cooling plants had stopped working and pressure was increasing in the nuclear plant constantly. Seeing the gravity of the situation Japan had already declared a nuclear emergency and evacuated people living at the 10 km radius of the nuclear plant. But that could not stop the unthinkable to happen; the plant went off with a big bang and a thick white cloud of radioactive elements. Now Japan is left to the mercy of the nature and only hoping that this blast will not harm the lives of Japanese.

Experts say that after the blast the radioactive radiation has spread in to the atmosphere and it is contaminated. People are advised not to venture out or eat or drink anything without test because that will expose them to the radiation. The immediate effects of the radiation will be the cause of skin cancer, even disintegration of body parts, genetic mutation which will affect the generations to come in many forms of deformities and diseases. That will carry the unending woes of Japan.

After the tragedies of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, the Chernobyl nuclear tragedy and this is the most recent nuclear tragedy in Japan. Japan has been the most sufferer county in nuclear tragedies.

Alas! Japan, the country of rising Sun. Now after the nuclear plants blast the neighboring counties like Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, etc. the surrounding countries are in the fear of being affected by this nuclear tragedy.

This incident really makes us to think of the future of human life on this earth. It looks like the earth is on a way of destruction and of no return. The good old days which are past are past, they seems to be lost and would never come back. The loss of natural resources, environment, and purity all is lost. It seems now that the clock of dooms day is ticking fast and we are looked like a helpless bunch of people watching our own end.

What is the future of this world? Where are we going?? Is there any hope left for human being???

Is this happening naturally or anybody or any power or God is in control of the situations????

To think of God in these situations will bring fear and hatred towards Him. But to understand His plan and purpose behind these incidents would give us hope and reverence to God. First of all let us clear our mind and accept the sovereignty of God and say : Let God be God and man be man. Let us not act like God and be fools but accept God as He is and surrender our lives to Him. Surely God is good and He has a plan of peace for His children. The situations like these where no one else could help, it is wiser to seek the help of God and trust Him. Who else could save and protect? When the man made nuclear plant bursts and spreads radiation – which is to be blamed? Would you still blame God and stay away from Him or would you run to Him and seek His mercy??

Bible predicts of such situations thousands of years back and has warned mankind to be alert. Situations like these will happen but Bible advices people to turn back from ungodliness and seek God in humility and purity. Because human life is neither like an object nor like any other animals. Human life has a soul which is very much God conscious and seeks God’s fellowship all the time. God has created man and has a future plan for him. This world is not a permanent dwelling place nor is death the end of human life. There is a life after and a heaven and hell beyond this world.

Life without God is hopeless and doomed. People who know God and accept Him as their father have a hope and future. The consequences of sin are death and destruction but faith on God and obedience to His commandments brings life and hope.

Glimpse of God in these gloomy situations

When we see these kinds of situations and tragedies – they remind us of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some may laugh and snub the fact but let’s listen to St. Peter, an apostle of Lord Jesus Christ – in his 2^nd epistle writes by the inspiration of God :-

“The Day of the Lord:

“Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. ² I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles. …….that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. ⁶ By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. ⁷ By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

……The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. ¹¹ Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives ¹² as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.”

NUCLEAR WAR – MELT DOWN OR DECAY OF LIVING BEINGS BY NUCLEAR RADIATION:

Bible in the book of Zechariah 14 describes of the consequences of a nuclear war.

⁴ On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. ⁵ You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake^[^a^] in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

⁶ On that day there will be neither sunlight nor cold, frosty darkness. ⁷ It will be a unique day—a day known only to the LORD—with no distinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light.

¹² This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. ¹³ On that day people will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. They will seize each other by the hand and attack one another. …..A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.

Great Earthquakes, Global warming & Calamities Prophesied:

The last book in the Bible which is a prophetic book predicts about great earth quacks and natural calamities:

Rev. 6:12 – 17: “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, ¹³ and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. ¹⁴ The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. ¹⁵ Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. ¹⁶ They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us^[^f^] from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! ¹⁷ For the great day of their^[^g^] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”

Rev. 16: 8,9 “The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. ⁹ They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.”

Is there any hope left for human beings?

Bible in 2 Peter 3:13- 18 gives us the promise of God that there is a safe and secure world waiting for the people who trust in God.

¹³ But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

¹⁷ Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. ¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME:

Deep down in our hearts we sense that this world is not our eternal home. How best we may try to live long in this earth but one day we have to leave this abode and go.

Bible says: Hebrew 13:14 - For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. In Philippians 3:20 ,21 -²⁰ But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, ²¹ who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

God’s people lived in this world confessing that they were pilgrims and sojourners

(Heb.11: 10) ^“ For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God…. All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.”

HOLD ON TO THE THINGS THAT ARE ETERNAL

Things of this world are not permanent neither the human body; therefore it is wise not to cling on to the temporal things but to hold on to the things that will remain. Things of Godliness will see us through this earthly journey and reach us safely to the other shore of life.

To reach heaven there is only one way and that is Jesus Christ as He declared – I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to father but by me.

To go to heaven by Jesus one needs to believe upon Jesus as his or her personal savior and Lord. As man is a sinner, he needs a savior and Jesus Christ came from heaven to save sinners. He took the punishment of sin on and purchased salvation on the cross of calvery for all those who believe upon him.

YOU NEED SAFETY AND SECURITY FOR ETERNITY:

People purchase insurance for life and property and think that they are secure.

What about their soul? Blood of Jesus is the security for the salvation of your soul and eternity. Your premium is faith. So give your faith (or believe on Jesus) and be secured for eternity.

If you are not sure about your future or destiny after this life , now is the time that you believe upon Jesus and invite Him into your life. Jesus will forgive your sins and give you life and peace.

You can pray this prayer by faith:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you are son of living God. You are the savior of the world. You came into this world and paid the price of my sins on the cross of Calvary to set me free. Now I believe in you and invite you come into my life and be my Lord and personal savior. Please forgive me my sins and make me clean. Give me a new and holy life. Thank you for the assurance of eternal life. By faith, now I am a child of God and a citizen of Heaven. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for accepting me into the family of God. Now I belong to Jesus. Thank You Lord Jesus. Amen”

Congratulation! Now that you have believed in Lord Jesus Christ, you are privileged to be called as the child of God and God has promised eternal life and kingdom for you.

This present heaven and earth shall vanish one day, but God is preparing a world without end for His children. God is mindful of us and He controls all for good.

Now let us give glory to God and praise Him for His eternal plan for human life.

Lord Jesus Christ is God and He is the creator, protector and savior of all creation.
